Watch: Turn Handwritten Exams into Data in 3 Steps (No New Hardware)

If you asked every teacher in the UK what they would do with an extra 10 hours a week, not a single one would say "more marking."
Yet, that is exactly where the time goes. The sheer volume of GCSE papers means that high-quality feedback often comes at the cost of your evenings and weekends.
At Excelas, we believe the future of assessment isn't about replacing pen and paper, it's about automating the data entry.

Watch: How the ExamGPT School Workflow Actually Works

Headteachers and HoDs often ask us: "Do I need special tablets? Do I need to change how I set exams?"
The answer is no.
In this 5-minute walkthrough, John (our founder) shows you exactly how the system fits into your existing school workflow using the standard MFD (Multi-Function Device) photocopiers you already have in the staffroom.

The 3-Step Process: From Paper to QLA

Here is the breakdown of the workflow you just watched, designed specifically for the infrastructure of UK schools.

1. Create & Print (The Setup)

We integrate with your Management Information System (MIS). You simply generate "QR Code Packs" for your classes. These unique codes sit on the front of the exam paper, allowing our system to automatically match every page to the correct student.
  • The Benefit: No manual sorting or alphabetising required.

2. Scan (The Bulk Feed)

This is the game-changer for departmental workload. You do not need to scan papers one by one. As shown in the video, you simply:
  • Take the entire class set of mock papers.
  • Remove the staples (or guillotine the spine).
  • Bulk-feed them into the feeder of your standard office photocopier.

3. Upload & Analyse (The Insight)

Once scanned to PDF, you simply drag and drop the files into the Excelas portal. While you teach your next lesson, our AI marking engine processes the handwriting. When you return, the "admin" is done. You receive:
  • Fully marked papers aligned to your specific mark scheme.
  • Question Level Analysis (QLA) automatically generated for the cohort.
  • Insight Reports highlighting common class misconceptions.

Why This Workflow Matters for Your Department

We built this workflow to be "boring" on purpose. We didn't want to create a complex new piece of EdTech that requires a training day.
  • No New Hardware: It utilises the existing printers and scanners your school is already leasing.
  • No Manual Data Entry: The AI reads the handwriting, marks the logic, and fills the gradebook for you.
  • Total Flexibility: It works with standard PDF exam papers and mark schemes.
